‘Game of Thrones’ Predictions

Who will finally dethrone Cersei Lannister and capture the Iron Throne? Will the Khaleesi and Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen finally claim her place? Or will Sansa Stark lead the kingdoms to greatness as she takes the hot seat? Maybe ‘Game of Thrones’ will have the unhappiest ending ever and everyone dies. Maybe fans’ wishes will come true and a happy ending awaits.

You never know when it comes to the Game. After months of speculation, ‘Game of Thrones’ is coming to an end, with the explosive eighth season scheduled to premiere around the world on 14 April. Sad as it is to see a brilliant show come to an end, we’ll get to uncover the fate of some of our favourite characters.

We’ve got a couple of predictions up our sleeves. We may be wrong – that’s the beauty of the unpredictable. These are our lucky guesses (without considering what has happened in the novels).

Everyone has their money on Jon Snow. He’s died once, but it’s unclear whether he will suffer the same fate. He might even sacrifice himself to save Daenarys. But one thing’s for sure – he’ll be the one to stab dragon glass through the Night King’s heart. Looming over his head is the unknown fact that he’s a Targaryen, aka Daenarys’ family member, but Sam Tulley will find a way to tell him the truth and Jon will have no other choice but to believe it.

In the trailer for the upcoming season, the incredibly fierce Arya Stark is running away from someone. And as we’ve seen in the past, she’s only done so with characters who were difficult to defeat. Although she has battled big and small, could this be her final challenge? We doubt Arya is going to die. After all, she has a couple of names she still has to tick off her list. But she may be severely injured in the process.

Then there’s Sansa Stark. Her rise to power in the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe was unlikely. She was underrated, but only because she was narrow-minded at first. However, her wits saved her life, and she might be one to look out for when it comes to the Throne, especially if Jon cannot take it himself.

Brandon Stark is also quite a guy. He has survived Whitewalkers and gained new powers – like an all-seeing eye. But will he survive again?

Cersei Lannister has been alive for so long – we doubt she’ll last until the end. She’s a proud woman; we have a feeling she’ll rather kill herself than die by anyone else’s hand. The Night King is a powerful force, neither she nor the Mountain would be able to defeat him. If they eventually clash, she’ll perish faster than you can snap your fingers.

Many seem to think one of our favourite characters – someone adored – will die as well. Question is who?

Tyrion Lannister is one of the smartest people on the show. So is Lord Varys. They will definitely stand the test of time and survive the great battle that is to come. They’ve come this far and will continue to use their smarts to live.

We’re sure Theon Greyjoy and his sister Yara are going to take back the Ironborn throne again, at least after their uncle, Euron Greyjoy, dies a horrible death. It may seem unlikely, but Theon may just be the one to finally overpower Euron, the same way he gained the Ironborn’s respect after the fight with Harrag on the beach.

We have been ‘stanning’ Missandei and Greyworm’s relationship for a long time, but we fear a sad ending for these two. Their love was strong and pure, however, all good things come to an end, as was proven with the Red Wedding.

We hope they survive the last battle. Otherwise, we think the “strongest man in the world”, The Mountain, will die and so will another of Daenarys’ dragons.

The Whitewalkers need to be defeated, though. The world does not need another ‘The Walking Dead’ environment. Will peace and prosperity reign in ‘Game of Thrones’? We’re not entirely sure.

But bearing the great words of Bonang Matheba in mind, we hope David Benioff and DB Weiss will “give the people what they want”.
