President Hage Geingob has congratulated the president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, on his re-election.
Geingob said this in a media statement on Monday.
The electoral process in the DRC on 20 December encompassed presidential, legislative, provincial, urban, municipal and local council elections.
“I look forward to continuing to work with president Tshisekedi to strengthen our bilateral relations for the prosperity of our two fraternal nations,” said Geingob.
He said both leaders are set to collaborate on promoting an integrated and prosperous continent through initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Tshisekedi, who has been president of the DRC since January 2019, secured approximately 73% of the vote to be re-elected.
His closest competitor, Moise Katumbi, trailed with 18% of votes cast, according to official reports.
