The Namibian Police have arrested a man (22) who allegedly kidnapped and raped a girl (17) with an intellectual disability in the Ohangwena region.
This was confirmed in the weekend crime report by the police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi.
“The suspect threatened the victim with a knife, took her to his house and kept her for five days,” said Shikwambi.
It is alleged that the victim was at a scrapyard when she was approached by the unknown male suspect and ordered to accompany him to his place, said Shikwambi.
“The victim allegedly refused and he threatened her with a knife. It is alleged that the victim was reported missing and was found on 10 August at the scrapyard by members of the public who informed her mother, but the suspect ran away. Police investigations continue,” Shikwambi said.
In a separate rape incident, two suspects (both 23) were arrested for the alleged gang rape of a girl (18) at Kamanjab.
Shikwambi said the victim was attacked while she was walking home.
It is alleged that a passerby observed the girl being raped by one suspect while the other watched and ran to get help.
