Governor Ndevashiya threatens legal action against viral audio creator

Walde Ndevashiya

Ohangwena governor Walde Ndevashiya has obtained the legal representation of the law firm Sisa Namandje & Co to give an Eenhana resident until 19h00 this evening to issue an apology to Ndevashiya.

Eenhana resident Thomas Puleinge is alleged to be responsible for a widely circulating audio clip in which Ndevashiya is claimed to have been romantically involved with Eva-Leena Kalimbo, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend and the father of her two children, Laurence Kapule Ndaoya, on Saturday.

“Our instructions are that during the weekend of September 30 to October 2, you, Thomas Puleinge, authored, published and circulated an audio clip in which you made statements concerning and about our client when you alleged that a recent unfortunate incident of murder at Eenhana may have been caused by a romantic involvement of our client with the deceased lady. Our instructions are that there is absolutely no truth in the allegations you made,” it is stated in a letter of the law firm that was sent to Puleinge.

“The statement is defamatory of the good name of our client [and] is directed at tarnishing his name by suggesting that he has no moral scruples and he is responsible for the recent murder. As a result our client suffered damages to the amount of N$250 000.

“Our instructions are that before 19h00 this evening you must widely circulate and publish another audio in which you unconditionally and unreservedly apologise to our client and retract the defamatory statement. At the same time you must make a commitment that you will compensate our client to the amount of N$250 000 in the next five days,” the law firm’s letter concluded.
