Grammy-winning Kaytranada heads to South Africa

Grammy-winning DJ and producer Kaytranada is set to headline the first Milk + Cookies Music Week South Africa.

The festival starts on Friday and runs till 12 January, aiming to spotlight a blend of African and international talents, with events in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Organised by Milk and Cookies, a production and marketing company known for high-profile events in Atlanta in the United States, the festival marks the brand’s international debut. It promises an immersive and exciting celebration of music, culture and technology through panels, exclusive pop-ups, yacht parties and two main festival events.

The Cape Town leg kicks off on Friday, culminating in the Milk + Cookies Festival at The Ostrich on Sunday.

Kaytranada will lead the line-up alongside South African stars DJ Kent, Zakes Bantwini, and DWSON. The festival will also feature art installations and food trucks.

Cape Town will then wrap up with an exclusive after-party at Old Biscuit Mill, where Kaytranada will deliver a special set.

Johannesburg has its turn from 9 January, hosting events like the Pre-Kay Vinyl Party and the main festival at Huddle Park on 11 January. The Johannesburg line-up includes Kitty Cash, Morda and DJ Lag B2B Thakzin. Attendees can also enjoy an intimate after-party at Truth’s Terrace, with Kaytranada keeping the energy alive late into the night.

Milk and Cookies co-founders expressed their excitement about bringing their signature festival to South Africa, emphasising their mission to bridge African and global music scenes.

“We’re celebrating creativity, community and the vibrant cultural landscape of South Africa.”

Kaytranada, known for his genre-defying beats that blend disco and other sounds, as well as collaborations with major artists like Anderson .Paak and Kali Uchis, has many people excited. His 2019 album ‘Bubba’ won two Grammy Awards, solidifying his place in global music.

With events designed to connect artists, industry leaders and fans, Milk + Cookies Music Week South Africa promises an unforgettable experience blending artistry and culture with a bit of fun.
