THE Rundu Town Council (RTC) has appointed Sikongo Haihambo as its acting chief executive officer (CEO), effective from 1 September 2018 to 28 February 2019.
Confirming the appointment in an interview with Nampa yesterday, the deputy mayor of the Rundu Town Council, Ralph Ihemba, said it comes after consultations with and the go-ahead from urban and rural development minister Peya Mushelenga.
He said Haihambo’s temporary appointment does not mean the recruitment process of the council’s top management post had been completed, noting that a suitable candidate will be appointed to lead the council. Haihambo was a former acting statistician general of the Namibia Statistics Agency, a role he held for six months, and was also a former deputy chief executive officer: operations of the Millennium Challenge Account Namibia. He also served as a director on the boards of various public and private institutions, and holds a master’s degree in business administration, and a bachelor’s degree in commerce.
