Francois Hanekom, a former professional player on the South African Sunshine Tour, and now a member at Omeya Golf Club outside Windhoek, showed the young guns that experience does count for something when he won the 49th edition of the Klipdrift Gold Cup at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club last weekend.
Hanekom led from start to finish to win the tournament with a five under par score. In the women’s division the overall winner was the young and talented Caro Els with a gross score of 153 over two rounds.
Gerhard Landsberg from the sponsors Distell assured the golfers that they will continue to sponsor the event next year through their Klipdrift brand.
