The Haval H7 comes jam-packed with new innovations, leaving many speechless, as is expected from the Chinese brand.
One cannot ignore the Chinese motor market as they keep on improving. Their innovativeness seems to have no end as every year they launch a new model with new upgrades to ensure both the driver and passenger’s comfort and safety.
The H7 comes in the wake of the TANK 300 that took Namibia by storm.
This time around, the H7’s 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol motor is not shy as it delivers a hefty 170kW/380Nm. The 9-speed dual clutch automatic transmission makes any ride, on tarred or gravel roads, a joy. The spaceship-like gearshift gives the interior a more robust look.
During our first drive with the H7, we could find anything out of place.
Bianca Weakley from Pupkewitz Haval gave Top Revs enough time to enjoy and witness what the H7 all-wheel drive (AWD) offers.
“Something that is super great is how the H7 looks, it is very utilitarian and looks chunky,” Weakly says.
This mid-range Haval comes with a differential lock, something that was previously deemed only for serious off-road vehicles. This function, with the engage button on the centre console, will assist the driver in getting themselves out of sticky situations.
Namibians love to travel, and with a ground clearance of 200mm, lockable rear differential and nine off-road modes, the H7 is for anyone looking for an affordable vehicle.
The H7 4WD has quite an impressive off-road portfolio with an approach angle of 24 degrees and a 30-degree departure angle, making the car suitable for unwanted inclines and declines.
But if you want Haval to do the impossible, then the brand will refer you to the TANK 300, with which Top Revs did a few gravel miles with.
To add comfort, the vehicle is fitted with 29-inch tyres to ease the driver’s strain on gravel roads.
The car is built with the family in mind when it comes to safety: all seats are fitted with safety belts, it has autonomous safety tech like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance with a lane departure warning, and a 360º panoramic view camera.
This assists the driver in manoeuvring the car in tight spaces. The high resolution screen even shows the wheel placement and direction when in operation.
The rear collusion warning system also helps the driver navigate safely.
The multipurpose steering wheel assists the driver to keep their focus and attention on the road. Additionally, the car is fitted with a heads-up display that projects vital information like speed and speed limit onto the screen.
The car comes with an electric sunroof to allow for more natural light and to seemingly add more space to the already spacious interior.
While the H7’s price is a major selling point, the best way to experience it is to visit Pupkewitz Haval at Oshakati, Otjiwarongo, Swakopmund, or Windhoek.
