Standard Bank Namibia hosted a vibrant high tea event in celebration of International Women’s Day last Saturday.
The event was graced by the presence of Zozibini Tunzi, Miss Universe 2019.
Khadijah Mouton, a senior copywriter at Standard Bank Namibia, expressed her excitement about the event, saying: “We had our celebration a week after International Women’s Day to bring Zozibini, and the event was under the International Women’s Day theme as well, which is ‘Inspiring Inclusivity’.”
Reflecting on Tunzi’s impact, Mouton says they believed she was the perfect person to be the face of this message.
“Of course, she was Miss Universe 2019, so people love her, ladies love her. A lot of people are so inspired by her,” she says.
The event featured a panel discussion with esteemed speakers from various industries, including Dr Esperance Luvindao, Patience Manzi and Tunzi herself.
The panellists shared insights on inclusivity in their respective fields, emphasising the importance of diversity and representation.
“When we look at someone who is almost larger than life . . . and who is so beautiful, I don’t think we could always imagine the actual obstacles people like that also face,” she says.
Mouton says the proceeds from the event will support the Buy a Brick Initiative, which is Standard Bank Namibia’s flagship programme, in collaboration with the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia.
The initiative aims to eradicate shacks in Namibia and provide brick houses to all Namibians, regardless of their socio-economic background.
The theme of the event, ‘Shades of Blue with a Do So’, infused an African twist into the traditional high tea setting.
Attendees adorned themselves with colourful headscarves , reflecting the vibrant spirit of the occasion.
Mouton says the event fostered meaningful conversations around women’s purpose in life and the importance of building communities for women by women, where they can push each other to excel. – unWrap.online
