Historian Francis Sinvula, also known as ‘Ba Mars’, was on Thursday laid to rest at his home village of Ikumwe in the Katima Rural constituency.
Sinvula, a well-known public figure, died last Thursday at the age of 67.
Speaker after speaker during the funeral praised Sinvula’s personality and character, saying his week-long funeral preparations were meant to celebrate his well-lived life, even though it was cut short.
The late Sinvula was described by many as a beloved father figure and a dedicated teacher who devoted his school time to serving his pupils well.
Speakers also said he took time outside of the classroom setting to share his knowledge with both young and old.
“He had this unique gift of storytelling and making people laugh wherever he set his foot, hence he leaves behind a very strong legacy within the family set-up and beyond and it is a legacy that will live on forever,” wrote one blogger on social media.
Sinvula leaves behind his wife Alphonsina, three children and seven grandchildren.
