Inaugural Influential Youth Summit set for Kavango East

Lloyd Sikeba

The Kavango East region is preparing to host its first-ever Influential Youth Summit, aimed at tackling significant challenges affecting the region’s youth.

Organised by Lloyd Sikeba, a young motivational speaker, youth leader, and inspiring writer, the summit will serve as a platform to empower, educate, and motivate young people to take positive action and to develop the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in all facets of life.

The summit, which is now accepting free registration, is set to take place on 3 June, under the theme: ‘Empowering the Next Generation: Creating Opportunities and Building a Better Future’.

However, the venue for the event is yet to be determined.

“The summit’s main goal is to create a forum for young people to discuss and find solutions to issues that affect them,” says Sikeba.

It will focus on key areas such as addressing youth unemployment through discussions on entrepreneurship and business opportunities in the region, raising awareness about social ills affecting young people, and discussing solutions, and promoting public health through discussions on health education and healthy lifestyle choices, he adds.

“Apart from that, it will also educate young people on their rights and the law and provide a platform for networking and collaboration among aspiring young entrepreneurs,” says Sikeba.

According to him, the expected outcome of the summit is to increase awareness of business and entrepreneurship opportunities in the region, increased knowledge of social ills affecting young people and ways to tackle them, awareness of public health issues and healthy lifestyle choices, and increased awareness of human rights and the law.

Inviting up to eight young speakers from different parts of the country, the summit will be a combination of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and breakout sessions, say the organisers.

“It will also serve as a platform for young entrepreneurs to learn, network, and collaborate.”

“We are looking forward to a successful event that will positively impact the lives of young people in the region,” Sikeba says.

Equipped Speakers’ Ndahambelela Haifene will be one of the guest speakers at the summit.

She says she is pleased about the summit and the positive change it will bring as a strong champion for youth empowerment through knowledge and skill transfer.

“I am particularly excited about the mind shift and transformation that the summit will bring to the youths of the Kavango East,” says Haifene.
