The Tsumeb siblings accused of incest were remanded in custody on Monday.
The brother, Leonard Leopold (36), appeared on charges of the Domestic Violence Act, incest, and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
His sister and co-accused, Teresia Leopard, did not appear in court as she was in the hospital recovering from the assault.
The two were arrested last week after Teresia reported her brother for assault at the Nomtsoub police station.
At the time, she claimed that her brother accused her of having a boyfriend, but upon further questioning by the police, she disclosed that she has been in a sexual relationship with Leonard for the past two years.
The two share a room at the Saamstaan informal settlement.
Leonard appeared before magistrate Boyd Namushinga, who postponed the matter to 4 August for further investigation.
Teresia’s appearance date is yet to be determined.
According to public prosecutor Sakaria Mupuma, the two are children of the same mother and father.
Mupuma requested the state not to grant Leonard bail for fear that he will interfere with the co-accused.
