Indonesian embassy launches cultural night

The Embassy of Indonesia will host its first cultural night, ‘Harmony of Nusantara: The Colours of Indonesia’, at the National Theatre of Namibia in Windhoek on 26 September.

The evening will showcase the diversity of Indonesia’s music and dance culture, with special appearances by the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Bandung Performing Arts Group, Mme Anti Riantini Pratignyo and Diana Rosca Aprilia.

The show will also feature the Indonesian Embassy Band, in collaboration with a selection of local artists including Lize Ehlers, The Ells, Ombetja Yehinga Organisation dance troupe and the University of Namibia’s music students.

Speaking at a press briefing in Windhoek on Friday, Indonesian Embassy head of information, social and culture Kurnya Kusuma Dewy highlighted that ‘Harmony of Nusantara’ is the first Indonesian Embassy event of its kind in terms of independent production and scale.

“Through this event, we hope to strengthen the bi-lateral relations between Indonesia and Namibia. If I’m not mistaken, it’s been 31 years of relations between Indonesia and Namibia, yet the knowledge between Indonesia and Namibia is still very little,” says Dewy.

“It will be easier for us to introduce more about Indonesia through the cultural stage.”

Tickets to the event are free but limited. To reserve your ticket, WhatsApp 081 124 9745. Tickets can be collected from the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek or from the National Theatre of Namibia’s box office.
