New kid on the block Yoco Organics and Skin Welfare is the latest player in a movement of holistic, anti-chemical skincare ranges that recently emerged and are sweeping throughout the country.
Love child and passion project of Yolande Leff, the brand – a clean, natural, home-made range for people with sensitive skin and who suffer from allergic reactions – was created in 2019, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic only hit the shelves in November 2021. What started as only organic bath salts has now evolved into a fully fledged range of skin, beauty and medicinal products that cater for babies, adults and the elderly.
Products used are found endemically, and Leff herself, after extensive research, is at the helm of the extraction process.
“From the beginning, it was incredibly important for me to ensure that all the products used in the Yoco skin welfare range are raw, natural and clean. These are products such as shea butter, avocado butter and coconut butter, all and essential oils, meaning oils which have been extracted from fruits or are plant-based, are unrefined. My aloe gel and rose oil, for example, are extracted from my own garden.”
Currently, the Yoco range includes an extensive array of bath salts extracted from mineral-rich sea, Epsom and Himalayan salts that are designed to assist with post-partum conditions and wounds, luxury salts like rose, sandalwood and jasmine, as well as medicinal salts, which include tea tree oils designed for flu, and cinnamon, a natural anti-inflammatory agent.
Other products which are fast
gaining popularity are the skincare range, which consists of a face serum made from extracted flax seeds, day and night creams made from aloe and shea butter, as well as an organic pain ointment that Leff redesigned from an old recipe passed on by her grandmother, which consists of cayenne pepper, arnica oil and eucalyptus designed specifically to improve blood circulation, improve muscle and joint pain, fight inflammation and headaches, and as a chest rub.
Beard oils, air diffusers and acne and sinus rollers as well as lip balms add to the range, which is growing daily.
“What makes the Yoco range so exceptional is that our products are 100% custom made, and our customers have the luxury to design which oils or extracts they wish to either include or retract from their product depending on their allergies or preference,” Leff explains.
Deliveries around Swakopmund are free of charge, and Yoco has established agents countrywide. For an online catalogue of all Yoco products, visit Yoco by Yolande on its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
