IPC denies getting funding from the UK

The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has denied allegations claiming the party is a front for the United Kingdom’s (UK) interests.

IPC spokesperson Immanuel Nashinge, in a media statement yesterday, said allegations circulating on social media that the party received financial support from the UK are baseless.

Nashinge said British high commissioner Charles Moore confirmed in a letter to IPC leader Panduleni Itula on Wednesday that the letters, allegedly authored by UK member of parliament Sarah Champion suggesting the provision of £750 000 and a fleet of vehicles to IPC through Itula, were fabricated.

According to Nashinge, the letters were entirely fabricated by third parties aiming to misinform and discredit the party.

He said no funds from any foreign or internal source have ever been transferred to either the IPC or Itula’s bank accounts.

“The IPC calls upon those leaders of political parties, who allege directly or indirectly in reliance on propaganda, to provide objective evidence,” said Nashinge.

Earlier this month, Nashinge accused Swapo and other opponents of stopping at nothing to prevent Namibians from electing “legitimate” leaders.
