The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture received a donation of 1 000 books from the Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) on Monday.
Executive director of IPPR Graham Hopwood handed over copies of the book titled ‘A Guide to the Namibian Economy’.
The 700-page book will be made available in schools and public libraries across the country.
The books were received by executive director of education, arts and culture Sanet Steenkamp and director of Namibia Library and Archives Service Sarah Negumbo.
While receiving the donation, Steenkamp described the book as a valuable resource for the upskill and reskill of pupils in the commerce field at secondary schools countrywide.
“This is a significant contribution and a profound gesture, which will greatly enhance the ministry’s efforts to promote the culture of reading, and to ensure equitable access to knowledge and information for lifelong learning in our schools,” she said.
Steenkamp said the book will unlock debates in classrooms, start insightful discussions and promote further research towards the country’s economic stimulation.
