‘It is time to kick Swapo out’ – Venaani

McHenry Venaani

Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) leader McHenry Venaani says it’s time to kick Swapo out of the government.

Venaani made these remarks at a PDM rally at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West region on Saturday.

He emphasised the party’s aim of reducing Swapo’s influence in parliament to 40%.

“It is time to hold them accountable for their inaction and indifference. It is time for us to kick them out and install a government that not only cares about you, but will work for you. And that is the PDM,” Venaani said.

According to Venaani, it is unforgivable that the Kavango West region continues to grapple with myriad challenges.

“Despite the rich potential that this region holds, we face significant hurdles. Poor road infrastructure limits our access to essential services, inadequate water supply forces our communities into a daily struggle for survival, often coming face to face with wildlife and sometimes losing their lives in the process.”

He noted that a lack of rural electrification has left too many families in the dark.

Furthermore, the scarcity of educational and health facilities have hampered the region’s progress and Nkurenkuru, as a hub of economic activity, cannot bear the burden alone, he said.

“During the past number of years, we have seen the alarming and devastating effects of neglect. Communities in the Kavango West have become islands of opportunity surrounded by a sea of underdevelopment. For over three decades the ruling party has failed to create effective policies that translate into tangible improvements in our lives,” Venaani said.

He claimed that Swapo’s resources rarely reach those that need them the most.

“They have implemented failed initiatives that leave many of our people struggling in the grip of multidimensional poverty. It is time to hold them accountable for their inaction and indifference,” he added.
