‘It’s a dream come true’ – Prisca Anyolo

Newly crowned Miss Namibia Prisca Anyolo describes her victory as a dream come true.

“It’s a dream come true. I’m filled with immense gratitude for the opportunity to represent my beautiful country on this significant platform,” Anyolo said yesterday.

Anyolo (28) is a journalist and entrepreneur. She said she will serve in her role to the best of her ability.

“This title comes with great responsibility and I am ready to embrace it wholeheartedly,” she said.

Not new to the runway, Anyolo previously took part in the Miss Namibia pageant in 2021, where she made it to the top 12.

Returning to the pageant was her way of staying true to her dream, she said.

“There’s power in never giving up on your dreams and trying again, my crown is proof of that,” she said.

The Miss Namibia Organisation tasks winners to use the platform to raise awareness on issues they believe in and serve as ambassadors of change.

Asked about her aspirations for her new journey, Anyolo said she plans to use her title to address various social issues affecting young people and the nation at large.

“I will use my platform to raise awareness about poverty and food security issues, sharing stories and data that highlight the urgent need for action,” she said.

“I plan to engage with the youth and community leaders to encourage grassroots movements and volunteerism,” she added.

Meanwhile, Kolmanskop chief executive Cicely Burgess donated three raw diamonds to the top three winners.

“We are giving the top three a diamond each (3,3 carat stones) from the Kolmaskop Diamond Shop, with each diamond worth about N$30 000,” Burgess said.

The first and second runner-up positions were scooped by Leena Mugena and Georgia Garises respectively.
