HARARE – Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe says there is nothing wrong with men having many wives as long as it is done “openly”, a report says.
Speaking to mourners at the burial of one of his aides Eric Nyakudya Gwanzura who was himself a polygamist, Mugabe seemed to give a hint that he believed polygamy was “okay”, according to Daily News.
Mugabe urged men not to “play” women, adding that if they wanted them as their wives it was “okay”.
Mugabe has in the past strongly criticised men with many women in their lives, saying it was important for couples to remain faithful to one another, an advice he even shared with his cabinet.
