Fabio do Rego has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading Julinho Athletic FC’s ambitious project following the ascension of ex-chairman Dino Ballotti to Cabinet.
Ballotti stepped down as chairman of the club on 22 March, following his appointment as deputy minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture.
He spearheaded the club’s vision for a comprehensive football network from grassroots to the highest level following the merger of Julinho Sporting FC, Girls & Goals FC and Athletic Club Football Academy to form Julinho Athletic Football Club (JAFC).
“The entire Julinho Athletic family extends heartfelt congratulations on this milestone achievement. We express profound gratitude for his remarkable contribution to the club’s growth, professionalism and community impact during his time as chairman,” Julinho Athletic said in a statement announcing the leadership transition yesterday.
The club believe Do Rego to be a suitable replacement for Balloti given that he is a long-time supporter and passionate advocate of football development in Namibia. As the new chairman of Julinho’s men’s premier league section, he will continue the club’s quest to become a force in Namibian football.
“Fabio Do Rego brings fresh energy, a wealth of leadership experience and a clear vision for the club’s continued progress. We are confident that Julinho Athletic will continue to rise as a competitive force in the Namibian Premier Football League under his stewardship,” the club said of its new head.
Do Rego said recently he is up for the challenge and plans to add value to the club.
“It’s a privilege and I am humbled to have stepped into this role. Julinho Athletic has a proud and inspiring legacy and an ambitious future, and I’m excited and committed to helping build on it with passion, purpose and unity,” De Rego said.
“Together with our team and supporters, we will shape the club’s next chapter. The future is bright, and I look forward to working with the entire Julinho family to elevate the club to even greater heights.”
Julinho Athletic vice president Norton Luis expressed appreciation for the new and former chairs.
“We are incredibly proud of Dino Ballotti and wish him great success in his new role at the national level,” Luis said.
“His leadership has been pivotal in shaping the direction of our club. We thank [him] for guiding this club with integrity and vision,” he continued.
“We’re equally excited to welcome Fabio, whose energy and ambition align perfectly with the club’s mission. The future is bright for Julinho.
“As we welcome Fabio Do Rego, we are confident he will carry this momentum forward and take Julinho to new heights.”
Ballotti said he was grateful for the opportunity to have contributed of the club’s ambition.
“Serving as chairman of Julinho Athletic has been one of the great honours of my career. The club will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Balloti.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. I leave with full confidence in the new leadership and the incredible potential of this team.”
The club remains steadfast in its commitment to its core values on and off the pitch.
“With Do Rego at the helm, JAFC will continue to be a driving force in Namibian football. We look forward to this new chapter and remain dedicated to excellence, unity and progress for our club and supporters,” the club stated.
“With new leadership, the club is poised to continue its vital mission of football development, youth empowerment and competitive success. We are excited about the future and look forward to your continued support.”
