Julinho plans Baroka pre-season tourney

Julinho Sporting and South African first division club Baroka are in talks over a preseason tournament on Namibian soil, the Rundu-based side says.

The envisaged event for next season is a result of strengthened relations between the two clubs, while other South African clubs have also shown interest in establishing connections to collaborate with Julinho.

“This event is expected to include participation from several other clubs, enhancing the competitive landscape and providing valuable exposure for Namibian players,” Julinho Sporting said in a statement on Saturday.

The Namibian Premier Football League team recently arranged trials for five of its players in South Africa.

“These trials represent a significant opportunity for these players to showcase their skills and gain experience in a more competitive environment, further solidifying Julinho Sporting Football Club’s (JSFC) dedication to scouting and nurturing young talent,” the statement reads.

“By forging strong partnerships and providing opportunities for young athletes, JSFC demonstrates a deep commitment to supporting and uplifting the sporting community in their homeland.

“This vision not only aims to enhance the quality of sports in Namibia but also to inspire the next generation of athletes to reach their full potential,” it says.
