Man of the match Elmo Kambindu scored his first goals for Chippa United in their 2-1 win over Richards Bay in their South African Premiership clash in Durban on Tuesday night.

Kambindu has been on the periphery and struggled for form since signing for the club over a year ago.

But he delivered emphatically against Richards Bay at King Zwelithini Stadium with two well-taken goals to secure the three points for the Chilli Boys.

The Natal Rich Boyz hit the front through Sanele Barns on 28 minutes, only for Kambindu to equalise four minutes later. The Namibian striker got his name on the score sheet again in the 79th minute to complete the turnaround for Mammila’s side.

The Chilli Boys soared up the table to fifth place, level on nine points with AmaZulu, albeit with a game in hand, leaving Richards Bay second from bottom but holding a five-point gap to Cape Town Spurs.

“I’m happy for the boys. We’ve been preparing for this for a while. I’ve been out of the team with injury. This is my first game back and I’m happy with my performance,” he said.

“Congratulations to Elmo Kambindu for netting a brace and getting the #dstvmanofthematch, celebrating his first goal for Chippa United FC since joining the club 15 months ago, the club posted on its Facebook page.
