The Tulipohamba Training and Assessment Institute brought smiles to about 280 widows, orphans and vulnerable children by treating them to an early Christmas party on Thursday.
The N$95 000-donation made by the institution catered for lunch, sweet treats, gifts, and a food donation of three months towards the Organisation for the Empowerment of Widows/Widowers of HIV/AIDS in Namibia’s (Oewona) soup kitchen.
Zambezi regional governor Lawrence Sampofu applauded the management of Tulipohamba for going the extra mile to fulfil the human needs of the destitute.
He added that it shows they are operating within a culture that caters to all and hopefully it will compel others to move in the same direction.
“Your organisation’s corporate social responsibility is proving to be key in improving the quality of life for the people and the environment,” he said.
He applauded Tulipohamba for also pledging to sponsor ten students in scholarships worth N$700 000 for the next two years.
Sampofu said other business communities in the region should come on board and fulfil their corporate social responsibility in the local communities they operate in.
“We have a big problem with businesses that rarely respond to the request submitted to them,” he said.
