Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) president Mike Kavekotora and vice president Kennedy Shekupakela have both retained their positions after the party’s recently concluded fourth Ordinary National Convention at Rundu.
At the same convention, Cecil Nguvauva was elected as the party’s secretary general, with Methumo Nghimwena serving as his deputy.
This was announced by Nguvauva at the party’s press briefing in Windhoek on Thursday.
Nguvauva said members of the central committee will serve from 2024 to 2029, according to the party statues and those who have been democratically elected.
“The party will soon convene a structure to put in place its national executive committee, a structure that is usually elected from members of the central committee. My office will announce the date as soon as possible,” Nguvauva said.
He said the party has put in place a list of members to represent the party in the National Assembly.
“This session was dealt with prudently and efficiently. The names and representation speaks for itself and it is available for everyone to see,” he added.
He assured party supporters that the party is still vibrant, there to stay, and will continue to defend citizen interests.
“We are still convinced that our political programme is geared towards the consolidation of the gains of independence, so we will improve the living conditions of all Namibians, root out corruption, and create equal opportunities to all Namibians. Vote for RDP,” Nguvauva said.
