GRAMMY nominated artist Keyshia Cole be charged with assaulting another women and has been let off with a warning following an alleged incident last month.
The 32-year-old singer was alleged to have attacked a woman in the penthouse of her boyfriend – Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman – in Los Angeles, but she won’t face any further charges and has instead been reportedly let off with a warning.
A source told TMZ: “Prosecutors have told Cole instead of going to trial, they want her to appear at an informal office hearing, where someone from the City Attorney’s Office will listen to Cole and the victim and then give the singer a stern warning not to do it again … or else.’’
The verdict means Keyshia will not be required to spend any time in jail, but she may have to undergo anger management classes after she was accused of turning up at her boyfriend’s home at around 05h00, finding him with another woman and then attacking her.
The singer, who was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary RNB Album in 2007, was charged by LAPD with misdemeanour battery. However, she was also arrested on account of the fact she had an outstanding warrant for reckless driving.
After being arrested at around 05h20, Keyshia went to the Valley Jail in Van Nuys, where she spent the next seven hours locked up. She had to post US$46,000 bail – some US$20,000 of which related to the battery charge and the remaining US$20,000 for the driving.
Before she allegedly got into the physical altercation, Keyshia posted a picture on her Instagram of a bird in a storm with the words ‘Sometimes you just have to bow your head, say a prayer and weather the storm’.
Following her release, the star updated her Instagram a number of times first posting a picture of herself with her dog.
The flame-haired songstress wrote: ‘Me and my LolaMae!! She knows my[heart].’
While she seemed happy to be home, she did have some venom in other posts, no doubt directed at her most likely now ex-boyfriend.
In one post she put up a quote, ‘Ni***z be like “WTF I gotta lie for’’ and still be lying,’ with the caption ‘Silly rabbit’.
Then later she once again took to social media with a post saying, ‘My Real And Your Real Ain’t The Same That’s Why We Don’t Click,’ captioning it ‘Fake. Just a fake.’
Keyshia is married to NBA star Daniel Gibson, whom she shares a child with but the couple has been separated since March.
