//Kharas residents ready to bid farewell to Nujoma

Residents of the Hardap and //Kharas regions are awaiting the arrival of the body of founding president Sam Nujoma to pay their respect.

A memorial service is scheduled to take place at the J Stephanus Stadium at Keetmanshoop on Wednesday.

The //Kharas regional governor’s office has announced a schedule change for the procession of the regional memorial service honouring the founding president.

//Kharas governor Aletha Frederick says the arrival of Nujoma’s body at the Keetmanshoop Airport was set for 10h00 on Wednesday morning.

“As a result, the memorial service at J Stephanus Stadium, Tseiblaagte, is expected to commence at approximately 11h30,” says Fredericks.

She says residents from nearby places such as Berseba, Tses, Gainachas were given transport to also allow them the opportunity to bid farewell.

Deputy prime minister John Mutorwa will represent president Nangolo Mbumba as the chief mourner.

Nujoma’s bidy was airlifted from the Walvis Bay International Airport to the Keetmanshoop Airport.

From there, a procession would escort the casket to the stadium, starting from the airport through the main road of the town, Hampi Plichta Street, then through Sam Nujoma Avenue, Bernadus Swartbooi avenue, Tseib Avenue, D Luiperd Avenue, and then to the stadium.
