Legendary Oxurub dies

FORMER Tigers and Dolam Pirates legend Zebulon ‘Ou Honie’ Oxurub died at the age of 68 on Tuesday.

He was a well-known sports personality, especially in the Old Location, and was also a former South West Africa football star who at the time played for Tigers.Affectionately known as ‘Voete’ because of his blistering pace and great shooting abilities, Oxurub was also a businessman of note during the ’70s and ’80s and was the first president of the Namibia Bus and Taxi Association (Nabta).He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and owned a farm in the Spitzkoppe area in the Usakos District.The celebrated footballer died in the Katutura State Hospital after a short illness.
