Life Skills Teachers Offer Counselling to Rocky Crest HS Pupils

Following the untimely death of the principal of Rocky Crest High School Alban Kloppers last Wednesday, the Khomas Regional Council, under the directorate of education, arts and culture, requested life skills teachers in Windhoek to offer counselling services to pupils and teachers at the school.

Speaking to YouthPaper, Norah Mamane Salifou, one of the Life Skills teachers at Rocky Crest High School, said that the community at the school was deeply saddened by the death of their principal and that she was thankful to the initiative by the Khomas Regional Council as it helped the pupils at the school to come to terms with the bad news and help them cope during the trying times.

“Since it was a sudden death of our principal, the counselling will help us all be strong and find peace,” said Salifou.

Another life skills teacher from the school, Priscilla Anti described Kloppers as a passionate leader who loved his job and had absolute respect for his staff.

“Mr Kloppers was a huge role model to the pupils of this school and he loved teaching as he was not just a principal but also a subject teacher who taught history. We will all miss him,” said Anti, adding that it is was a good idea for pupils at the school to receive counselling because it will help during the process of accepting the loss of their beloved principal.

Ileni Homateni, a pupil from the school, described Kloppers as a good leader and role model to his pupils who wanted the best for his pupils. “He was always motivating us to do better and we thought we would have more time with him but God had other plans,” said Homateni.

Kloppers was a principal at Rocky Crest High School for nine years. The school will celebrate its 10th year anniversary next year.
