 THE Namibia Schools’ Sports Union (NSSU)’s under-18 rugby team will later this month travel to South Africa to compete in the annual Under-18 Academy Tournament, scheduled for end of June.
 NSSU national coordinator Solly Duiker said 22 players have been selected to for the trip.

THE Namibia Schools’ Sports Union (NSSU)’s under-18 rugby team will later this month travel to South Africa to compete in the annual Under-18 Academy Tournament, scheduled for end of June.
NSSU national coordinator Solly Duiker said 22 players have been selected to for the trip.
The NSSU’s under-18 rugby team has been competing in the Academy Tournament since 1995, but has not yet won any tournament.
Duiker added that in the 2008 edition, this team won two of their three matches in the group stages, but failed to proceed to the next round.
The players are Gert Henning, Emlyn Olivier, Hendrik Derks, Stefan Neustadt, Ian van Wyk, Hennie van der Westhuizen, Cecil Clarke, Alfred Ward, Tommie van der Merwe, Corne Karsten, De Salvano Beukes, Jontuan Ockhuizen, Shilton Clarke, Danny Motinga, Reinhardt Liebenberg, Niel Brink, Danie Roberts, JJ Pretorius, Dolan Hekingya, Garth Ockhuizen, Keanan van Wyk and Winston Kalimba.
The management is Andre Mothman as team manager, and Willie van Zyl and Steward Stofberg as the two coaches.
Ring Ball
THE recently-introduced ring ball coaching and umpiring course has been described as a huge success. The course started late last week and ended on Monday.
The new sport code is mainly played in neighbouring South Africa, and was introduced to 32 teachers from Namibia’s 13 political regions.
Namibia Schools’ Sports Union (NSSU) national coordinator Solly Duiker, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the first-ever ring ball coaching and umpire course, conducted by Ring Ball South Africa.
He said the 32 teachers will now introduce the game in their regions, especially at schools, before the zonal teams are formed.
To earn the Ring Ball Level One certificate, the 32 teachers will travel to Pretoria, South Africa to attend the practical part of the coaching and umpire course, scheduled for June 28 to July 3. All Reports by Nampa
