Many Namibians have shown their support for Miss Namibia Jameela Uiras through contributing funds to cast votes collectively.
This comes after make-up artist Renate Shikongo initiated a movement to collect funds for votes on social media.
This has seen many sending between N$20 to N$100 to Shikongo to cast votes on their behalf.
Expressing gratitude for the massive support, Miss Namibia chief executive Umbi Karuaihe-Upi says Namibians are out of this world and she is currently very proud to be a Namibian.
“The outpouring of love, support and caring for our Jameela has been remarkable and unprecedented. The patriotism from Namibians towards their delegate for Miss Universe Jameela Uiras and our country is admirable. I want to thank each and every Namibian for standing solidly behind your own and for giving Jameela the emotional support she needs during this exciting, albeit crucial time in the competition,” says Karuaihe-Upi.
She says she is amazed by different initiatives people are coming up with to support Miss Namibia, despite the country’s small population.
“Out of the close to 100 delegates from all over the world, Jameela stands out, So thank you so much Namibia for your support and please keep voting for our girl.”
Uiras is among 90 contestants from around the world participating in the 72nd Miss Universe pageant, which takes place on Saturday at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador in El Salvador. -Unwrap.online
