Lockdown is the word on all our lips as we enter the second week of the state-imposed stay-at-home challenge to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Namibia.
Since we are all going to be experiencing a lot more time inside, why not spend this time consuming some dope local content that will keep you busy, entertained and help pass the time till we can step outside for real again?
First, let’s begin with a bit of musical entertainment. Some recently released songs and videos are ‘Kasi Moses’ by Gazza available on YouTube, the ‘One’ audiotape by Martin Amushendje, and Cassidy Karon just dropped the music video for his song ‘Chains, days after being the first local artist to have a live Instagram stay at home concert.
Soundwave will also regularly be hosting live music with the Social Media Live Stream Show with artists such as Top Cheri, Slickartie, Nally, DJ Castro and others. You can catch the live shows on Instagram by following @TheGardenInn13 featuring whichever artist is performing on that day. Dates for all shows will still be announced.
Next, keep your mind and body balanced during this stressful time by starting and ending your days with the right fitness instructors.
Resident yogi Beauty Boois will be hosting daily live yoga sessions on her Instagram page – tune in from 09h00 and get ready to feel the good vibrations. Meanwhile fitness guru and personal trainer Lee Neshila will be taking you on a high-intensity journey with his 07h00 workout every day during lockdown.
Maria Nepembe says she has some “light, easy body weight workouts” that will be posting on her Instagram page, which you can do alone or with the little ones in your home.
Then there’s the twerk queen Rossy Theodor, who will be taking her Dance-Fitness-Twerk programme to her Instagram page to keep us energised and entertained.
And for the very brave at heart, there is the #OmaniPushUpChallenge. Started by Twitter user @Omanii_Hapulile. This is a challenge you can take part in if you have the guts. All you have to do is 300 push-ups every day of the lockdown and post a video of your attempts to Twitter using the now trending hashtag.
For the binge watchers, why not head over to YouTube. Catch up with Saima Akawa’s cooking show Sai’s Kitchen to sharpen your cooking skills while on lockdown.
For some fun travel content, check out ItsWoven’s escapades around the Land of the Brave. If you need a good read, we have two good picks for you. DJ and author Rosalia Davids’ book ‘Belinda’ is selling at a special lockdown price and you can find her on social media to get hold of your own copy. While Ndapanda Haininga’s travel blog ndapanda.co is full of exciting content that will appeal to the inner wanderer in you.
