LPM fumes over editor’s Facebook comment on Seibeb’s ‘manhood

Henny Seibeb

The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) has condemned a Facebook comment made by Namibian Sun editor Toivo Ndjebela over the weekend in which he implied that LPM deputy leader Henny Seibeb’s weight was obscuring the view of his “manhood”.

LPM spokesperson Lifalaza Simataa said, “These offensive comments were posted as a response to an image shared by Nico Kaiyamo on his Facebook page, in which Ndjebela commented, ‘Nico, you’re the only one who hasn’t changed. For example, Henny is fat now. His tummy is so big, he hasn’t seen his manhood since Swapo days.

Expressing doubts about the objectivity of LPM coverage in the daily, Simataa said if this incident goes unaddressed, it could foster a perception of bias in the news articles published by the newspaper under Ndjabela’s supervision.

“It is disheartening to witness an authority figure of the fourth estate maliciously targeting innocent individuals without apparent cause, showing no regard for their reputation and social standing. Such animosity may affect the coverage of positive news related to Seibeb and those closely associated with him,” Simataa said.

LPM has called upon the media ombudsman to conduct an investigation and uphold ethical standards in the media industry.
Meanwhile, Ndjebela declined to comment.
