To equip local pupils with knowledge on increasing career opportunities at the town, the Lüderitz Town Council hosted a career fair on Wednesday.
The fair served as a platform for students to connect with industry experts.
Speaking at the event, Lüderitz mayor Phil Balhao said the aim of the event was to empower the young people of the town with the necessary knowledge and platform to feed their enquiring minds.
“And to use these opportunities to make sure they impact and benefit the community of this beautiful town”, he said.
Many students expressed their appreciation of the event.
Jay-Cee Draghoender from Angra Pequena Secondary School said: “I am delighted with the experience. It’s very informative, I’ve gained a lot of new knowledge from the exhibitors.”
Guinilsa Kanyeumbo from the same school said: “This is very important for our small town as it gives all these companies the opportunity to give pupils information on things they would otherwise not have been privy to.”
The event attracted a diverse array of stakeholders and businesses in the oil, gas, and fishing industries.
It will run until Saturday.
