‘Luxury Homes Revealed’

There’s no other feeling like receiving the keys to your dream home. But for some home owners, they aspire to much bigger and better.

Although not everyone will get a chance to live in a mansion one day, it never hurts to dream. Thanks to the Australian show ‘Luxury Homes Revealed’, viewers get a peek of incredible homes from all corners of the continent with hosts Bessie Kay and Gary Takle providing much-needed personality to some of the most beautiful homes you’ll ever see.

During one of the shows, you’ll get to see the Meridian 47, a modern home with features that gives the impression that you’re living in a luxurious resort. Much like the kind of space you’d find in the outskirts of Windhoek, the house has been described as one that “maximises the light” to give a natural feel.

Home owners would know that a spacious kitchen is where all the magic happens, hence a trend to create island benches and concoct a minimalistic feel. In order to achieve this, the rules are simple: Keep your kitchen clean and decluttered, and you’ll give the impression of a comfortable home. In other words, make less look more. In Australia, it seems that clients are interested in securing homes where the master bedroom is on the ground floor for the sake of diversity and flexibility – which makes sense if you’re into something new.

Consultant Gabriel Pilarek is also on hand to discuss the style and structure of a selection of homes on sale, particularly those he has involved himself in during the construction process.

And you always know it’s best to have an insider to shed some light on the best features of a house, especially if they’re up for sale.

One of the owners, Warren Slade, said that during the renovation process, he decided to go for a different approach – create an entirely new space with four floors, giving each floor its own dramatic individuality.

The plan was simply visiting concept homes, getting Pilarek to come up with a design aligned with the owners’ ideals and changing the nitty-gritties which led to the house slowly, but surely, coming to life.

Takle, however, takes a slightly exaggerated approach into the world of luxury thanks to tech billionaires and the other super rich as he dives in and out of Hollywood to explore what people do to their homes when they’ve got all the money in the world.

The answer to this is – fast cars, incredibly expensive artworks and well… bowling alleys and golf courses.

It’s a wonderful experience listening to home owners describe the pros and cons of building their dream homes by providing open and honest reviews, and indeed, any fan of architecture and all things housing would indulge in 30 minutes worth of inspiration.
