South African Afro-pop group Mafikizolo lit up the stage at the Doc Jubber hockey field in Windhoek on Friday night.
The event marked the duo’s return to Namibia for the first time since 2013.
The concert, organised by Event Solutions, started with some of the band’s classic hits, like ‘Udakwanjalo’.
The event celebrated African music with a line-up that included award-winning artist Waters, The Ells and 4×4 Too Much Power.
Event Solutions spokesperson Salmi Shigwedha says the event was a succes.
She says the turnout was generally satisfactory.
“Of course we always aim to attract even more people to our events. We want to extend our gratitude to Namibian music fans for coming out and focusing on having fun and enjoying the experience,” she says.
Shigwedha thanks the police for their presence and support.
“Our long-term goal is to build trust with Namibian entertainment and music fans. We take the safety of our event attendees and their belongings very seriously and are committed to ensuring that our events provide safe and enjoyable environments,” she says.
Tracy Garises, who attended the concert, after the show said it was well organised and the artists had the entire crowd on their feet.
“I especially appreciated the smooth and hassle-free entrance,” she said.
