Man arrested for rape of a corpse

Man arrested for rape of a corpse

A MORTUARY worker at the Karasburg State Hospital was arrested just before Christmas for allegedly violating a human body.

The man, Ivan Hendriks, was denied bail on a charge of rape.
The woman, said to have been in her 40s, had just left her mother’s funeral on December 20, community members say, when a Police vehicle crashed into the car in which she was a passenger. She later died in hospital.
It is alleged that the woman’s body was found on December 23, lying on the mortuary floor with two used condoms next to it.
Security guards on duty are said to have noted that Hendriks, who was not on duty on the night of the incident, had arrived at the mortuary, apparently under the influence of alcohol, arguing that he needed to enter the premises.
He was apparently arrested at the scene of the crime.
