A 24-year-old man was arrested at Karibib after he allegedly kidnapped and raped a woman he had met for the first time, in the early hours of Friday morning.
The two had earlier exchanged phone numbers, says police inspector Pendukeni Haikali in the police weekend report.
Later the same evening, however, the suspect phoned the victim and arranged that they meet at a service station.
“The suspect requested the victim to get into the vehicle for a patrol, but then drove away with the victim, threatened to kill her and had sexual intercourse without her consent,” Haikali said.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of Friday, a 23-year-old man who is currently awaiting trial at the Rehoboth Police holding cell pressurised another inmate to hide his cell phone in his anus.
The phone was placed in his anus to avoid detection during a search.
“It is further alleged that during the search the victim informed the cell management about the said cell phone and it was recovered,” he said.
On the same date, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Ondangwa after returning from school, according to Haikali’s weekend report.
It is alleged the 17-year-old suspect and the victim live in the same village in the vicinity of Ondangwa.
Police investigations continue.
