A MAN is among the victims in one of five incidents of rape reported to the police over the weekend.
The man (21) was allegedly raped and robbed in Wanaheda, Windhoek, on Saturday.
According to the police’s weekly crime report released yesterday, two unknown men attacked the man with knives while he was on his way home.
The men allegedly raped him, after which they robbed him of his cellphone.
No arrests have been made and the cellphone has not been recovered.
An investigation into the incident has been launched by the police’s Gender-based Violence Protection Unit.
Meanwhile, at Rehoboth the grandfather (50) and guardian of a nine-year-old girl has allegedly been sexually molesting her over a period of time.
This was only reported on Saturday by the victim’s paternal grandmother, who allegedly came across the girl having been raped.
The suspect has not been arrested yet and investigations continue.
At Okongo, a 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping two minors, nine-year-old child and his stepdaughter (10), during separate incidents in August this year.
The suspect is expected to appear in the magistrate’s court at Eenhana today.
The incidents were reported after the nine-year-old alerted her parents.
The victims were taken to the Okongo District Hospital to be examined.
Police investigations continue.
A man (25) allegedly raped a 16-year-old at Aranos on Friday evening.
The suspect was arrested and investigations continue.
In a separate incident at Eenhana on Friday afternoon, a man (19) allegedly followed a teenager (14) from the tap where she had gone to fetch water and raped her.
The suspect was arrested.
Almones Hanaseb (8) was playing in the street with other children at Otavi on Saturday when a man (49), who is reportedly mentally challenged, allegedly hit the child with a stick on the head, causing profuse bleeding.
The child was taken to the Otavi clinic, but succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the clinic.
The suspect was arrested.
In a separate incident at Otavi, a man on Saturday evening allegedly stabbed Hans Someb (23) with a knife in the chest and neck, causing his instant death.
The motive is unknown.
The suspect (20) was arrested.
Four people were detained for questioning at Swakopmund after a man was found lying in the street with stab wounds on Saturday.
A police sergeant (35) was arrested in Katutura on Friday for attempted murder after he allegedly fired two shots at a 24-year-old man, which hit his neck and stomach.
The sergant allegedly used his personal gun.
The victim was reportedly walking along the street when the off-duty police officer, who was standing inside the yard of the police barracks, called him.
