Man to appear in court for fatally stabbing attacker

AN OHANGWENA man is set to appear in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court after he stabbed to death a man who was robbing him.

Late yesterday afternoon at 17:30 the man who’s name cannot be mentioned as is yet to appear in court was allegedly riding his bicycle out of Oshikango town after doing some shopping.

While on his way soon he realized that he was being followed by three unknown men who started chasing after the bicycle as he reached the outskirts of the town.

“The three thugs then continued chasing the man who had to abandone his bicycle when he realized that he could not outride the thugs and started running on foot,” said

Ohangwena region police commissioner Elizabeth Sibolile who confirmed the incident.

The thugs who were armed with knifes reportedly caught up with the man who and tried to attack him but unfortunately for them he was also armed with a knife.

“When they tried to attack him, he also pulled out his knife and stabbed one of them who fell to the ground immediately and that was when the other two fled the scene when they saw that their companion was not moving,” adds Sibolile.

He died on the spot and the man who’s name cannot be mentioned as his yet to appear in court turned himself in as he reported the incident to the police.

Sibolile confirmed that he has been detained and held for questioning at the Ohangwena police station.
