Man tries to torch Mum

A MAN from Mururani in the Kavango Region was charged with assault by threat, attempted arson, common assault, resisting arrest and attempted murder on Sunday after allegedly trying to set his mother on fire at Mahahe village.

The 30-year-old man is said to have assaulted his mother before threatening to kill her and attempting several times to set her hut on fire.
When the Police arrived on the scene, the suspect allegedly shot at the officers with a bow and arrow.
One of the officers responded by shooting and wounding the suspect in the left leg.
The man was taken to the Rundu State Hospital for treatment. A case of attempted murder is being investigated against the Police officer who shot at him.
