• Pinehas NakazikoRegarded as the next big thing in the local musical game, rising kwaito star Manxebe, who is also arguably one of the country’s most sought-after musicians, continues to maintain his top position in the industry.
The musician surprised many fans and music lovers when he unleashed his latest project this week: a soulful album packed with good melodies and featuring some tremendous musicians in the country.
While others were still enjoying his last album, ‘Ghetto Love’, on which he collaborated with Top Cheri, this week, Manxebe released his third album, ‘B.A.E’, which he says stands for “best album ever”.
Manxebe says ‘B.A.E’ will be one of the best albums in the country this year. He encourages everyone to buy the CD and listen to the songs to prove this.
It only took him around two weeks to finish composing and writing the songs for the album, he says, because he is a fast-thinking person when in the studio.
“This proved that I can also do more than three songs in one day,” he says.
The 16-track album sees Manxebe collaborating with some of the biggest musicians in the country, such as King Tee Dee, Top Cheri, Tate Buti and Ethnix, while Andrew on the Beat produced the album.
“They all did their best on the songs they featured in, and I appreciated it so much,” he says.
Commenting on his latest project, Manxebe says there is a difference between his previous albums as they are strictly kwaito, while the current one has a mixture of all genres, from hip-hop, reggae and Afro-pop.
“I can say all the songs on the album are smashing hits, especially for those who love kwaito music,” says Manxebe.
Asked about the panga he is holding on the album cover, Manxebe says: “It’s just my sign. My panga is not to harm or scare people, my panga is the sign of my musical love. If you see a panga, you must think of Manxebe.”
Over recent years, Manxebe has stolen many people’s hearts and has been celebrated countrywide as one of the best rising young kwaito singers.
He says this is because he keeps releasing good music for the people, to keep him in the game.
“Also, I am just loved by my fans because they keep on supporting my art and buying my music.”
Ever since his debut in music in 2018 with his first album, ‘The Rebirth of Kwaito’, Manxebe says despite being loved by many he also encounters many challenges, such as being attacked by some of his fellow musicians and others, because of his creativity and style.
“I just do not take some of these things to social media, because people will see your weak point. I ignore and continue doing what I do best,” says Manxebe.
Apart from ‘B.A.E’, Manxebe says fans can expect more from him, such as music videos as well as continuing to produce music that is loved by fans.
