Martin, Shitaleni win golf pairs qualifier

Joseph Martin and Thomas Shitaleni won the first King Price International Pairs qualifying competition at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club over the weekend.

Martin and Shitaleni won the competition with a total of 48 points, to finish two points clear of the chasing pack. 

Claris Chipfupa and Munya Chiphupa came second on 46 points after beating Walter Bredenhann and Graeme Williamson on a count-out, while Burger Bergh and Stefanus van der Merwe came fourth on 45 points after beating Johannes Xoagub and Lukas Hamata on a count-out. 

The top four teams have now qualified for the regional finals which will be played later this year. 

Four nearest-to-the-pin prizes were won by Francois Grobler on the third hole, Borris Erasmus on the ninth hole, Johannes Xoagub on the 13th hole, and Milton Eiseb on the 17th hole. 

The Windhoek Golf and Country Club will host the Bank Windhoek Independence Betterball competition this coming weekend.
