The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, has served a total of 110 620 people through its mass registration programme, which ended on 31 July.
Spokesperson Margaret Kalo says the initiative was aimed at registering births, receiving and processing identity (ID) document applications and issuing duplicate birth certificates.
“The programme was a success, having achieved its objectives and serving a substantial number of people for various civil registration services across all fourteen regions,” she says.
Kalo says during the mass registration programme, which ran from 5 February to 31 July, the ministry successfully served a total of 110 620 people, registered 31 135 births, issued 6 194 birth certificate duplicates and processed 12 939 identity (ID) document duplicates.
The tireless effort and commitment of staff, regional councillors and stakeholders played a vital role in the success of the programme, says Kalo.
She said the ministry will continue providing services from its offices across countries and advises people to visit the nearest office to apply for national documents.
“Members of the public who applied for IDs and have not yet collected them are urged to do so from the offices where such applications were submitted,” she says.
