Austrian jewellery company Swarovski has officially opened its first shop in Namibia.

Renowned for designing, manufacturing, and marketing high-quality crystals, genuine gemstones, as well as jewellery, accessories and lighting, Swarovski appointed former Miss Namibia Cassia Sharpley as its brand ambassador earlier this year.

Sharpley says she appreciates the relationship she has built with the brand since she took part in the Miss Universe pageant in 2022.

At the shop’s opening at Grove Mall last week, Sharpley was seen sporting glittering Swarovski jewellery.

“It is hard to believe such a timeless brand, that my parents grew up with, has been presented to me to fulfil objectives. One is to allow women to define their inner beauty,” she said at the event.

Swarovski regional manager Jonathan Minter said: “Since 1895, founder Daniel Swarovski’s mastery of crystal cutting has defined the company. His enduring passion for innovation and design has made it the world’s premier jewellery and accessory brand.

“Today, the family carries on the tradition of delivering extraordinary everyday style to women around the world.”

Swarovski Crystal Business has a global reach with approximately 2 400 stores and 6 700 points of sale in over 150 countries, and employs more than 18 000 people, Minter said.

He said it was important to understand the local market and to allow the brand to resonate with community members.

“When we were tasked to open the shop, it was very important to research the local market. Sharpley attracted a lot of recognition globally, which ties us to the local and international market,” he said.

Shop owner Wagner Luis said: “We are looking forward to becoming a leading branch in the world and showing the rest of the world that Namibia has the same class of elegance, sophistication and consumer purchase interest as anywhere else in the world.”

Luis said Swarovski Namibia intends to host many more events to remain at the top of the community’s minds.

“One of Swarovski’s driving forces is to allow Namibians more employment through a brand that is very likely to stay in business for years to come,” he said. – unWrap.online
