Mbidi looks to improve NFA

Newly elected Namibia Football Association (NFA) president Frans Mbidi on Wednesday met with his staff at Football House to plan the way forward.

Mbidi, with his deputies Naftal Ngalangi and Crooks Nunuheb in tow, held a meeting with the entire staff of the NFA secretariat, including secretary-general Barry Rukoro as well as coaches of the national teams.

Introducing his vision of making the NFA one of the best run affiliates of Fifa, Mbidi called on the staff to dedicate themselves to the cause.

“Thank you for your dedication and commitment over the years to the NFA’s outgoing exco [executive committee] and I have no doubt you will continue to commit yourselves in our collective pursuit of excellence,” Mbidi said.

“We can surely look back on the past with pride as we have achieved a lot under testing conditions and we are indeed well positioned to have a great 2015 and beyond,” he added.

Mbidi also told the meeting that together with his deputies, they make up an ‘Emergency Committee’, while the first executive committee meeting of 2015 will be held on 21 February where several standing committees aimed at steering the NFA forward will be appointed.

“Also note that [Naftal] Ngalangi will be overseeing all senior national teams, while [Ludwig] Nunuheb will oversee the operations of all junior football, and our education and training programmes,” Mbidi said.

“We also need to appreciate our partners more such as the government, Fifa, DFB, GIZ, including our sponsors and any others so that we optimally utilise resources and achieve our vision”, he said.

Mbidi called for improved communication and coordination of the association’s programmes, while the issue of branding and general working conditions at Football House where also discussed. – nfa.org.na
