NAMIBIA’S Olympic star Christine Mboma was on Saturday given two Bonsmara heifers by the vice president Nangolo Mbumba and his wife, Sussietjie.
The Bonsmara is one of the strongest cattle breeds in southern Africa.
Mbumba also inaugurated Mboma as an official farmer.
The gifts were in recognition of her outstanding athletic performances this year.
In attendance at the ceremony was Emma Kantema-Gaomas, deputy minister of sport, youth and national service, and Henk Botha, Mboma’s coach.
“I thank the goodness of the heart of the vice president and his wife,” the athletics coach said.
“Her future as a possible farmer is very bright,” he said.
