Mbumba set to meet Chinese president next week

President Nangolo Mbumba will be jetting off to China on Friday.

He will be attending the Ninth Forum on China-Africa in Beijing next week, where he will meet with president Xi Jinping.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, the Namibian Presidency said Namibia’s attendance has resulted in development deals for both countries.

“Namibia’s participation in the Ninth Forum on China-Africa has proven beneficial as it has received support in the development of various infrastructure projects such as roads, schools, and capacity-building training, among others,” the statement reads.

Mbumba will set out to strengthen the already existing relationship and improve trade between the two countries.

“This year’s summit will be held under the theme ‘Joining Hands to Advance Modernisation and Building a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future’,” the statement reads.

The Presidency expects the summit to adopt a declaration and an action plan for 2025 to 2027.

Mbumba is expected back in the country next Friday.
