Mbumba urges youth to participate in Oshakati expo

Nangolo Mbumba

Vice president Nangolo Mbumba has implored the youth to participate in the Oshakati Totem Expo to gain knowledge regarding the totems to which they belong.

Mbumba was speaking at the official opening of Oshakati Totem Expo at Oshakati on Wednesday.

“Knowing which totem we belong to is very important as it gives us a sense of belonging in our African communities,” Mbumba said.

The vice president thanked the town council for organising the totem expo which was, however, poorly attended.

According to Mbumba, the totem expo provides a platform for local businesses to showcase their products and services to a wider audience.

Mbumba also urged all towns without trade shows to follow the examples of towns that host shows, to cater for local business people.

“As we attend this expo, let us also actively support our local business people. Let us buy their products and by doing so give them courage to produce more and exhibit their products and services,” Mbumba said.

He said that the Oshakati Totem Expo should inspire the public to embrace its cultural diversity, foster unity and work towards building a harmonious and prosperous Namibian house.

“It is my desire that this cultural exposition leads us to a spirit of cultural unity and togetherness as one people,” he said.
