The Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) and TransNamib will be receiving N$420 million of taxpayers’ money in the new government budget.
This was announced during the tabling of the national budget in the National Assembly on Thursday.
According to the new budget, Meatco is to receive N$100 million in government funding during the 2025/26 financial year, while TransNamib is to receive N$320 million.
The minister of finance and social grants management, Ericah Shafudah, said this is to improve efficiency in the two institutions.
An amount of N$320 million will be provided to TransNamib in line with an ongoing exercise to improve efficiencies and stem infrastructure and operational challenges, Shafudah said.
