Windhoek will witness its first lingerie fashion extravaganza as Namibian fashionista and international model Meriam Kaxuxwena unveils her MK lingerie collection. This will be the leggy model’s second collection in two years, after she successfully launched her swimwear line last year.
The MK lingerie show will be held at the Nampower Convention Centre on Saturday, 29 October.
As per tradition with Kaxuxwena’s shows, the lingerie show will feature an international fashion model. Lilian Brower from Barbados will be walking the ramp along with local models including plus-sized models who will give the audience the “finest lingerie fashion experience”, according to Kaxuxwena.
Kaxuxwena, who is a strong advocate for embracing plus-size figures in the fashion industry, says the public can expect something fierce on stage from the collection itself, the beautiful models and possibly some exotic dancers as well as music performances from Sally, Sunny Boy and Young T.
“My lingerie is not the usual lingerie you see in the shop but it’s different and the material is of high quality. The production was done in Brazil. Some people say that my lingerie defines sexy and for those who have not seen them yet, come to the show and witness or maybe buy yourself or your girlfriend a piece or two,” she said.
Kaxuxwena said the show was postponed twice because she was caught up with a lot of modelling work abroad and she has been busy sorting out the tax and custom issues for her latest collection.
“The pieces were not ready as production took a bit longer, however I also wanted to provide the best quality so I did not want to rush things,” she said.
“I currently have 9 000 pieces (of lingerie). I will be selling my pieces all over the country. They will also be available at the show. The fabric used is of high quality and it is something worth buying,” the model said.
Tickets for the show are available at Computicket at Antonio’s Art. Tickets are also available at the door. Lingerie will be available for sale at the show.
